I first called KeenHire because I had a high-level employee candidate that I was considering hiring. We had made some hiring gaffes in the past and wanted to use as many tools as possible to ensure that our choice was the best one possible. When you quantify the cost of a bad hire, it can be staggering, particularly at a high level position within a company like ours. While we had a plethora of candidates from which to choose, we needed a tool to help us articulate the characteristics that we were looking for in a candidate. Through utilizing the KeenHire process, we were able to create a baseline model of the motivations, behaviors and competencies that we were looking for. We were then able to test the individual candidates against this model and determine who would be the closest fit. This added a scientific element to the process that we hadn’t used in the past. Surprisingly, or not, we wound up eliminating the candidate that probably would have gotten the job had we gone with our historical practice of multiple interviews and guess.
During the interview process, we were able to utilize the assessments and model to focus our questions and make the overall process much more efficient.
At the end of the day, we are delighted with our final selection. Further, we believe that given certain projects and challenges that have arisen since our hire, the initial/eliminated candidate would have fallen short while our actual hire is quite up to the task.
